Role Overview
As a Senior Quantitative Analyst, you will play a key role in developing and deploying data-driven, dynamic, and risk adjusted strategies across day-ahead, intraday, and balancing markets. You will work closely with traders, developers, and other quants to turn data into actionable insights and profitable decisions.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and optimize quantitative trading strategies across European power markets (DAM, IDA, continuous, and balancing)
• Analyse market structures, auction dynamics, and price formation mechanisms to identify inefficiencies and opportunity
• Design rule-based trade allocation models using price forecasts that manage risk exposure
• Evaluate performance across strategies using a variety of statistics
• Backtest strategy logic across historical data to assess profitability, risk, and feasibility
• Monitor live strategy performance, identify underperforming logic, and drive iterative improvement
• Collaborate with development team to improve performance of data and forecasting capability
• Work closely with the trading team to analyse market dynamics, build real- time trading signals and dynamic auction strategies.
Qualifications
Required:
• MSc or PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics)
• 4+ years experience in a quantitative role, preferably in energy trading, commodities, or finance
• Familiarity with Python and relevant libraries such as pandas and scikit-learn
• Strong foundation in probability, statistics, time series, and regression/ classification models
• Familiarity with concepts such as backtesting and simulation
• Ability to clearly communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred:
• Experience in European electricity markets (EPEX, Nord Pool, SEMOpx, HUPX, etc.)
• Experience with Python libraries such as PyTorch, XGBoost, LightGBM
• Familiarity with forecast evaluation metrics such as R2, MAE, RMSE, and calibration techniques
• Knowledge of electricity system fundamentals (e.g., merit order, interconnectors, imbalance prices)
